Alphabet worksheets to print for learning letters in preschool and early primary school: recognize a letter, say its name, hear its sound and know how to trace it. Depending on the files, worksheets are available in French, Arabic or English, which lets bilingual families and classes follow both alphabets with the same methods.

What the worksheets contain

You'll find tracing sheets with direction arrows (uppercase and lowercase), letters to color surrounded by objects that start with the same sound, letter-picture cards, dotted letter-tracing exercises and complete workbooks to follow the alphabet from start to finish. For learning the Arabic alphabet, the worksheets show the right-to-left writing direction and present each letter in its isolated form.

How to use them

Start with the letters of the child's name: they are meaningful to them and come up often. Print one sheet a day, slip it into a plastic sleeve and have the child trace the letter with an erasable marker: they practice without wasting paper. Ten minutes a day is enough. Teachers print one sheet per student for a letter-writing workshop, or laminate the cards for a memory game in class.

Before and after the alphabet

If the child still struggles to hold the pencil, go back for a few days to the pre-writing worksheets (lines, loops, bridges) before resuming letters. Once the letters are known, flashcards and reading worksheets take over. For concrete activity ideas, read Learning the alphabet through play: 10 activities to do at home. Free worksheets are available with an account; the others are unlocked with your tokens and stay in your account.
